Where have I been?
starting fresh - this blog post is the first and last post where I will shill my cybersecurity services startup
Last year, I started to preach the idea that AI security was what we needed through programmatic means. I originally created this blog to argue that this was the exact mechanism that agentic systems needed.

Fast forward to about a year later.
My algorithm for my feed on LinkedIn is telling me the exact things we argued for last year, which is awesome for the security community!
I’ve moved on since then to something else.
Now the question is what is this “something else” and why?
I’ve left my full time day job as a security engineer at Amazon and moved on to providing cybersecurity services for businesses because I believe that security should be accessible no matter the company size. Cybersecurity is often gate kept behind huge amounts of money, vendors, and “cracked” technical staff for companies that need security to grow their businesses. The following is a Nano Banana generated visual that somewhat seems to capture this??

I worked at Amazon for the past 4 years as a security engineer where I worked on deep application security problems in static analysis and building agentic systems that solve security problems (Security for AI). I’ve since left Amazon and am fully focusing on my startup where I am aiming to provide cybersecurity services. I’m initially focusing on application security, whether it’s “classical” web applications or agentic web applications through analyzing your code, penetration testing, (soon to come) autofixes, and validation of fixes.
I’ve branded my startup as Pigeon.
Why is the startup called pigeon? I’m located in the NYC/NJ area so it’s a symbol of where I reside. However, pigeons are generally awesome and here’s a small list why according to Google:
Waste suppression: They eat discarded food scraps quickly. This starves out worse pests like rats.
Pollution tracking: Scientists test their feathers for heavy metals. This monitors local air and soil safety.
Seed dispersal: They eat fruits and grains. This spreads plant life to isolated city parks.
Nutrient cycling: Their droppings deposit nitrogen and phosphorus into urban soil. This fertilizes city plants.
Pigeons are overall quite helpful, but are often overlooked because cities are busy focusing on progress and that’s how I want my services to be like. I want you to be busy growing your startup, while Pigeon comes in, and provides benefits without you noticing.
So yeah, overall that’s why this blog has been mostly quiet, but this post isn’t indicative of where this blog is heading. My goal with this blog is to provide insights on how other businesses are handling security, really simple security advice, or breakdowns of complex application security topics so everyone building out there can benefit.
If you or anyone you know is building a city (application/startup) where Pigeon can help benefit you in the background (cyber/application security services), please feel free to reach out at david@pigeonlabs.ai!
